September 16, 2009I remember how Lakas-NUCD was such a formidable political party several years ago. But that is just merely a memory today. One such manifestation is apparently the lack of talent within its midst that now it has to parade a thoroughly greenhorn nominee for next year’s presidential election.
Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro comes to me like a very unassuming name and one without a certain face that when the boisterous pronouncement of his nomination by Lakas came out on the morning news today, I wasn’t able to immediately put a face behind the name, despite that of course, his name had been in the current news every now and then, being defense secretary at present.
So I had to immediately surf the net and browse for his person and that was the only time I was entirely assured of his person, in name and face.
Now let me take a step backward, it seems to me that the party has some sense and wisdom after all in its selection of Mr. Teodoro for per my research, Gilbert Teodoro is actually someone who could not be faulted for wanting to aspire for the topmost position of this country. His scholarly record is impeccable, almost to a fault. He topped the bar examinations and went to Harvard for graduate studies. Definitely, we see lots of potential in this guy (to be so cliché about this) and if he becomes president, we might just as well possibly have the most intelligent president ever; although we had such a miserable experience with one. And besides, we are yet to hear anything controversial about him.
With the Noynoy bandwagon coming up so strong and so fast, Teodoro’s presidential run is at most a wild card affair.
In conclusion, Gilbert Teodoro might just be merely a face in the crowd today, but with enough effort in his campaigning, he could be the dark horse in next year’s presidential race and can give Sen. Noynoy Aquino and Sen. Manny Villar a worthy run for their money.

i'm worried about the cojuangco connection, though. but it's nice to see young men joining the race. i hope we choose well next year.
and the best part of it is...BF is out of the race and i hope it humbles him a bit.

this guy is good but knowing the showbiz mentality of the Pinoy voter, he will have a hard time breaking their sentiment, unless he does a terrific campaign.

To Atticus: Cory was more connected sis but nobody talked about it. It was kinda a very uncomfortable issue, Cory and the Lusisita...Maybe Noynoy can overcome this like her mother did...

To BW: In hindsight, Noynoy could be more showbizzy than any other aspirant bro since he's riding on a very famous surname, her mother's death, and of course her sisters highly public persona.

Nakakainis yung mga iba diyan na mabilis manghusga ng tao..
I mean, check this guy's credentials out. Sa lahat ng mga kandidato, he has the best credentials starting from the educational background (Finance Degree from La Salle, Bachelor of Laws from UP, Master of Laws from Harvard). He is someone who is committed to excel, di mediocre tulad ng iba diyan. Leaders from government (especially the top positions) ideally should have received the highest standards of education (i.e. in India, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh holds a Ph.D)..di sapat ang "can read and write." sa pagpapatakbo ng bansa.
This guy being defense secretary (and works with the military) is versed in coordination and micro-management, and seems to be a hands-on person. He clearly fits the bill for an administrator. And being in such position requires a sense of decisiveness, which unfortunately someone out there (keyword: bandwagon) does not appear to possess.
Aside from his prestigious law degrees, he also holds a degree in finance. This means that he knows what to do with regard to the economic and financial health of the country.
With regard to personality. He seems to be an honest person, someone you can entrust the country with. His work ethic is unparalleled (this is the reason why I think di siya masyadong sikat, kasi nagtatrabaho lang). Again, he is very decisive and thinks about the situation before acting upon it. Hindi siya Trapo tulad ng karamihan, I won't wonder if both sides respect him, heck they couldn't even say anything bad about him except na kesyo "kiss of death" daw ang maging admin candidate...so what? Masyadong NCR-centric kasi ang mga tao, what about the provinces that have progressed under this administration? Di lang po Metro Manila ang Pilipinas! It is comprised of 7,100++ islands with a population of 90++ Million!
The sad truth is that a lot of our people do not really understand these particulars. They often root for the popular, yet usually incompetent..or corrupt ones. Please bear in mind that the presidency is NOT a popularity contest, it is a matter much much more significant and serious than that.
