That's the problem, it can be so slimy if you overcook it. About 'the wife', it so happens that my favorite authors like Dostoyevsky and Nabokov uses character like this, like M. or Z., or the wife, or the husband, so I kinda got to kinda like it that way, full of Russian realism.
