Firsts there were the fears where at the start of his inaugural speech, the 46th US President Barack Obama’s voice trembled and struggled a bit more patently that even the crowd, which was so much rambunctious and celebratory just earlier on, had felt an uneasy silence, perhaps reminded all too suddenly that amidst the pomposity and festivity of what could have been the biggest and most spectacular inauguration rites for an America president ever, a heavy gloom is cast all over the sky over America. The caustic financial crisis that had befallen the Homeland is one of such gloomy scenarios plus the overly-problematic US engagements in Iraq and other parts of the world.
I thought then that President Obama had lost so much sleep that he had forgotten that at that event, America should be well glad that he is president and not being wary at all. But then, he redeemed himself as the rest of his speech spoke about hopes and “challenges being met” and leading the nation “to lead once more” in the international scene, perhaps he means in a different direction than what Former President George W. Bush had taken.
President Barack Obama’s speech was so superb overall that I see it as the best speech ever made by a U.S. President after the Kennedy Era, and in the words that contained in it, he showed so much spunk and intelligence that it is clear, President Obama is president now because he is a man, he is one man who has so much gray matters between his ears, one who knows what he is talking about, and one who knows where he is going to go.
To President Barack Obama, congratulations.

Yes... and lets hope he delivers...

The tone was somber which was appropriate given the weight of the problems the nation faces. I do agree that the country needs to be taken away from the unilateral approach that was championed by the neoconservatives in Bush's administration.

my husband and I were glued to the tv during his inauguration; I think that's what Obama is all about:hope.

natawa ako sa isang comment sa tv about his speech - na kulang daw sa sipa. you really cannot please everybody.
but for me, it was such a lovely speech, not full of bleak promises but hope..

i was not able to watch obama's inaugural speech, no time! the only thing i read about on the newspaper the following day was the mistake committed by the justice who took his oath of office.

Obama's presidency is being compared to that of Kennedy, when both came when the economy was in recession ( this year's case is more sever though). Kennedy made a positive impact on the economy and the same is being expected of Obama although the recovery will be a little slower.
I expect Obama to have stronger work ethics than Bush who reportedly sleeps promptly at 10pm everyday

To Sidney: That's my hopes too bro, despite that he inherited an America in difficult times.

To Panaderos: That should be what is expected of him and his cabinet although I am wary that he might not do the turnaround as soon as possible, he might not be able to do. When he's finally on the table, he would know lots of information he ain't have had while on the campaign trail.

To Pining: I was up even until near dawn, it was that exciting...

To Bing: It was an intelligent speech and i can sense that he didn't intend to be boisterous and grandstanding about it, as he kept his tone so moderately almost all throughout, But that's his sincerity that's showing and I think that's what is important the most.

To curacha: Such a pity, but I think you can see some reruns, maybe it'll be available online or in rental sooner or later...

To BW: If that's the case, I can see a lot of twin conditions in both Obama and JFK, both are highly intelligent and excellent in manner of speech and moves; Maybe Pres. Obama could rise up to the iconic level of JFK and bring America "to greatness" once again, whatever that means.

His speech was the first inaugural speech I've ever listened to. Our company president even told us we could watch the speech in his office if we wanted to (as long as we told our bosses, of course... hehe). I listened to it on the radio though instead of watching it on TV.

At least he never made any promises other than to work hard in bringing the country to its feet again, unlike the nonsensical blahs that you often hear from our local politicians. Like Erap's famous "Walang kamag-anak, walang kaibigan" BS...

Very well delivered speech and hoping for a better government. No false promises and I like that
! He was so precise to also avoid that Americans will stay longer in the midst of the cold weather.
