Weird Me V.2

Five Feet Flat—web designer and chic girl—tagged me for a tag that I have already done before; asking what’s bizarre about me. I’ve done such tagged before ( see this post ) but I won’t be bringing down a sassy girl like Five Feet Flat so I am gonna do a “weird tag” once more, without peeking at my previous “weird tag”. I feel like I’ve got more weird stuff to share. So here it goes:
- When I was young, younger than the 28 years I’ve lived an earthly life…35 years if I am honest—I like climbing trees that at about 17 or 18 years of age, I had spent afternoons hours and hours atop a ratiles tree, and I felt like I was at home in such high places. My mother once scolded me for this. “What do other people be thinking? My son is an asshole? No, not that way. Is my son a monkey?” I just kept my mouth shut and thought foremostly why should other people care about me climbing trees all the time. It’s not an immoral act and God does not forbid it and besides, why would I care about what other people think? People are people.
- I drink coffee a lot like I have a love affair with that stuff. In fact most of the time, I kept daydreaming that one day I’d drink that famous coffee that comes from the bowels of a civet cat. Civet cat’s waste as delicious—now that’s weird.
- I loved Chinese soup almost all the time. At one point in my life, I’ve gone all over the city, even in Manila, savoring every Chinese soup offered and they come in many different names like balbakwa, Soup No. 5, special mami, bulalo, and such and such things. I actually visit frequently this downtown restaurant that had offered what to me is the best tasting beef mami of all time. But you know, I’ve learned through snglguy that in Binondo, a real Chinese soup is offered that I had regretted so thoroughly why I haven’t visited that area when I was there. That now, I kept on putting in my mind, that one day, I’ll have myself a real Chinese soup.
- I don’t talk too much. I must have probably stated this in my previous “weird tag” but this is the most prevalent unusual thing about me. My father once told me that I am an introvert individual and from that day on, I have exerted enormous effort to be an extrovert person because my late father’s tone—when he was saying that—was a bit in disgust.
- I love Metallica as well as Billy Holiday—both in the same breathe. This must be weird I tell you.
- I drink alcoholic stuff a lot. This should be weird for I am aware that decent men and women shouldn’t drink that way. If only there’s Alcoholic Anonymous in our midst. But sadly, there ain’t.
Now the rules say I’ve got to tag other bloggers for this. Culprit? Five Feet Flat.
So Abaniko, Annamanila, Snglguy, Ipanema, Vic; you got to tell us the weirder part of you. I know most of you have been through this. I have been too. So, no exempting justification for all five of you. And remember, you got to tag five other bloggers for this; and you’ve got to let them know you’ve tagged them one way or another. It’s fun I assure you.

My eldest brother was also a quiet guy like you. However, my father probably considered him a respite since the seven others in his brood were rather talkative and at times, boisterous.

Why do kids love to climb, no? when I was small, I used to climb trees a lot too - kaimito, bayabas, atis, mansanitas, niyog, etc.
You’re a coffee drinker, ha? I always have this stereotype - that coffee lovers are deep, sensitive and intelligent people. To me, they are readers and thinkers. More often than not, I’m correct.
On # 6: so that makes me an indecent person. Hehe.
Thanks for the tag, bai. No exemption. Astig! Okay, will do the meme once I get the chance.
Comment by Abaniko — July 19, 2007 @ 7:55 pm
Re #4, I dont think that’s bizarre! Actually I discovered early on that a lot of bloggers are introverts, that’s why they feel more comfortable writing their thoughts down…:)
Comment by Gypsy — July 19, 2007 @ 8:25 pm
you should have a drinking spree with my husband. hehe…
Comment by evi — July 19, 2007 @ 9:08 pm
To eric: That’s a good observation eric, a silent guy would always be easy to cozy up to and be comfortable with.
Comment by Major Tom — July 19, 2007 @ 9:38 pm
To abaniko: I noticed that too that in a previous post about I had even tried to explain such phenomenon scientifically–why children loves to climb—but I think I fell short.
I was just jesting about the no exemption thing Niko so there’s really no pressure.
And, I shouldn’t have used “decent”, too strong a word, but maybe “mature” and “reasonable”. Too much drinking maybe just that, unreasonable.
Comment by Major Tom — July 19, 2007 @ 9:42 pm
To Gypsy: Maybe we bloggers has that very patented writer’s character, that is, to be a deep person and of few words. I remember how often I’ve got to hear some girl says that their ideal guy is one who is deep and of few words.
Could this be ideal in some sense?
Comment by Major Tom — July 19, 2007 @ 9:46 pm
To evi: Oh, I’d love to do that if only there be an opportunity. Maybe in the future, there’d be a time.
We could drink dry a bottle of Johnny Walker and be blissfully dizzy with it.

I’m a coffee addict too, but only with Tim Horton’s, forget star bucks and all the rest, even have to go out for a fix in the middle of winter storms..
anyway i did mime already, only the six that first came to mind,,,maybe not the weirdest, but weird enough… i even tagged the bibs…
Comment by vic — July 20, 2007 @ 1:49 am
To vic: Haven’t heard about Tim Horton’s before but I reckon it must be good, since you said so. My aunt from Vancouver used to sent us lots and lots of stuffs like coffee and in many brands at that.

aray ko…no exemption to the rule? bakit? i’ve done this before 13 or 15 things ba yun? I can’t promise the 15 and I’ll try to think about other 5 people we have to tag. you know what’s funny with tagging? others don’t like it. ako naman basta meme ok lang. Mag soul searching muna ako…think deep kung ano pang ka weirduhan ko.
Comment by ipanema — July 20, 2007 @ 9:40 am
To ipanema: Like I said to Niko, I was just half-jesting about the “no exemption” thing but you know this ‘weird tag’ is one that I enjoy more than the rest since I get to read also some weirder and funnier stuff about other bloggers. It’s fun kinda of.
Comment by Major Tom — July 20, 2007 @ 9:59 am
you’ve tried soup no. 5? it reminds me so much of my biology teacher in high school, aphrodisiac daw nya yun. hehehe.
kids like climbing trees siguro dahil malapit na kamag-anak natin ang mga unggoy? just a thought.
Comment by zherwin — July 20, 2007 @ 3:16 pm
To zherwin: I tried it without knowing it really—it was only afterwards that I read what’s the soup was all about. It was fun tasting though; really good.
Comment by Major Tom — July 20, 2007 @ 3:29 pm
Actually di ko din type yong sobrang deep and sobrang few words..intimidating for me, on the other hand, yong mas madada pa sa babae..lalong turn off…hehe.
Comment by Gypsy — July 20, 2007 @ 9:33 pm
I also like Metallica. Billie Holiday…. somewhat. But I do like certain jazz singers. Good music is good music whether it’s heavy metal or jazz or what have you.
Comment by Wil — July 21, 2007 @ 10:12 am
To Gypsy: Extremes is just unideal…like you say so.
Comment by Major Tom — July 21, 2007 @ 7:18 pm
To Will: You said it right bro; in all types, there is excellence in musicality—Billy Holiday and Ella Fitzerald in jazz, Metallica or Pearl Jam in rock, Placido Domingo in classical—such and such things.
Comment by Major Tom — July 21, 2007 @ 7:21 pm
I always enjoyed climbing a guava tree in our backyard when I was a kid… It got chopped down and we only have pine trees now. Now those aren’t easy to climb at all.
Coffeeholic here as well.
Hahaha… I love the Sex Pistols and Nina Simone in the same breath! Weird = eclectic
Comment by Alternati — July 22, 2007 @ 2:15 am
To alternati: eclectic is such an apt term—like “an eclectic heart”.
Comment by Major Tom — July 22, 2007 @ 6:13 am
We’re such weird people, us bloggers. We pour our hearts out in our posts and yet, we will fight to the death to keep our anonymity…
Just tell me when you’ll be in the big city and we’ll have that Chinese soup downtown and then some alcoholic beverages afterwards, haha.
Hmm, so I now have to think of some mroe weirdness for this tag…
Comment by snglguy — July 23, 2007 @ 12:22 am
To sngl: It’s sad that we’re supposed to be planning to go to Bulacan for my wife’s family reunion this end of July but got cancelled due to some reason, like the kids can’t absent themselves and she’d be on official travel there instead (for a dance competition and conference in Midtown Plaza among health workers from DOH)and have exactly no time for reunions. Maybe when vacation time comes, I’d be able to visit Manila once more—and have soup with you, a real chinese soup as I envision; and lots of beverages.
Comment by Major Tom — July 23, 2007 @ 8:08 am
” I don’t talk too much. ” - I’m surprised that you are the quiet type. E, bakit dito sa blog mo, parang madaldal ka? hehehe.
“I love Metallica as well as Billy Holiday” - omg! real extremes! hehehe.
Weird ka nga, Major Tom! But without some weirdness in a person things will just be boring.
Comment by rhodora — July 23, 2007 @ 8:33 pm
ah, late ko na nabasa yung exemption, Major Tom. Anyway, I was able to return the link, thanks. Meron akong nakitang 1 pang ‘weird’ and another i just posted at Gypsy’s blog.
Hey, i like this red header. it adds a bit of colour….buhay.
Comment by ipanema — July 24, 2007 @ 5:46 am
To rhodora: That’s a good question; one which I myself could be at a lost..
I don’t know why, maybe in blogging, I have learned to be extrovert more than what I was before, maybe I’ve learned from it. What do you know, maybe blogging has this one good trait, a positive element that could help individuals to be able to express themeselves more than ever.
Comment by Major Tom — July 24, 2007 @ 10:18 am
To ipanema: The red color is lively as you say. I was thinking of turning it into blue but if if you say its cool, i’ll stick with it for sometime.
Comment by Major Tom — July 24, 2007 @ 10:19 am
On your #1, I think when we are young, we really don’t care what people think. It’s when adults point it out to us then we start to care, don’t you think?
