George Bush’s Victory: A Flawed Mindset

Image hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.comhen finally America was verging to puts all its steel and military muscle against Saddam Hussein’s Iraq in the summer of 2003, I was a bit traipsing between two extreme poles, by being vehemently against President Bush’s bullheadedness in shedding blood without the showing of probable cause that was demanded him by the United Nation (with Collin Powell struggling to identify a blurred projection of a supposedly chemical weapon plant somewhere in the outskirts of Baghdad and pinching a vial of Anthrax with a raised hand) while at the same time I was silently wanting to get the people of Iraq a more straightened nation that they deserved for so long, and not the one that Saddam had been shortchanging them, where money coming from huge oil exports just went into arms build-ups, a useless and futile use of resources that should have been utilized to benefit the welfare of the Iraqis more in the past. For one, I really had a strong feeling then that Saddam Hussein had probably gassed the Kurds somewhere in northern Iraq, where many Kurdish women and children lay victim to mustard gas as perpetuated by his henchmen sometime in the late 80’s. The Red Devils Are Back (To Save The English League)

Image hosted by Photobucket.comBehind the heroics of the boy wonder Wayne Rooney, the Manchester United raced back to second place and be in real contention finally after such a bad start in the globally-popular English Premier League. For a while there, league-leading Chelsea seemed poised on staging a major runaway, having such a strong hold on the trophy even while the season is never even at its middle point. With Liverpool never getting away with a win, and Arsenal seemingly playing in luckluster fashion without its former captain Patrick Viera, the season could have been fairly boring by now (fantastic only to Chelsea fans of course) with everyone just waiting for the crowning of a champion that is already known way too early in the season.

The Economy

The Mighty Peso

Could we finally say now about our local dinero as “The Mighty Peso” ? (Just like how we usually refer to the mighty greenbucks we always daydream about?) Has the time finally come to sing alleluias and hosannas to a rising economy or are we just embroiled once again into some cruel and surreal dream that makes us feel good while our eyes are closed and makes us writhe with misery the moment we wake into a callous reality?

A dream or a nightmare—We seem to have no inkling just as yet as we struggle now to grope with swinging emotions, like upon a rollercoaster ride. After months and months of repulsive news centering on our diabolic political scenario (e.g. fertilizer scam, Garci disappearance and reappearance) and rising fuel prices, we suddenly found ourselves reading the front pages of the dailies declaring the somewhat extraordinary rise of the peso lately. And not only that, we are just about to becoming accustomed to repeated rollbacks from the mighty oil companies, something that is surreal and good, but I bet something not permanent but simply an aberration, a beautiful aberration if I say. Parang nag-milagro lang ang mga oil companies. Nevertheless, the rising peso and the oil price rollbacks are a breather to our endless miseries.

Bombs, Anyone?

I HAVE HEARD ABOUT SMART BOMBS (are they smarter than doctors?) or firebombs but I didn’t know that there is such a thing as a Google Bomb. It seems to me that Google is into a lot of things lately.

But this one ain’t really a Google product like the Google Analytics or Google Base but instead, Google Bombs or Google Bombing is a trick effected by ultra-savvy tech guys in order to manipulate web protocols where as a result, certain search words would directly link to a certain site irregardless of whether or not such site has any relation to the aforementioned search word or words. Some Good Things…

Some good things are coming my way and I am gladder than glad because of them. In fact if you see the new template this site is wearing, it is such a very very good thing–like a dream come true. I was struggling to find the design that I could settle on and I struggled hard, tweaking every design that came my way and finding out that my code tweaking ability is still far from what could be apt and practicable. One day, Jorge of Far From Neutral offered a helping hand and I found out that he was the very man that I needed. I told him what kind of look I had been wanting. And then like magic, he made it all possible even if the Blogsome platform is not as flexible as what could be expected. My healtfelt gratitude goes to Jorge–A million thanks to you man. I think some good things really lasts—like this design—it was made to last.

The Color of Terror

When confronted about the issue, Pentagon Spokesman Army Lt. Col. Barry Venable, never denied the use of what now appears to be a most controversial use of a certain firebomb termed as Mark 77, or more popularly known as “White Phosporus”. He had no choice, the burning issue had now come to a boil after an Italian news agency had broadcasted a documentary detailing the improper and irresponsible use of the said chemical munition. And lately, the talk on “White Phosporus” had permeated throughout the Internet.
